The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute (originally the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute) is an acting school founded in 1969 by actor, director, and acting teacher Lee Strasberg. The Institute is located in Union Square on East 15th Street, also known as Lee Strasberg Way, in New York City, New York .

In 1969, Lee and Anna Strasberg founded The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute to train and nurture present and future generations of aspiring actors. Today, our scholarship program serves to honor this vision and support students with great passion and potential for a career in the performing arts. New York Campus.
The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute® is one cohesive school, founded by Lee Strasberg with the same educational mission and the same high standard of actor training. Both campuses teach Lee Strasberg’s Method in its purest form and offer the same core classes. Elective classes, however, will vary at each campus and are subject to change.
The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute celebrates over 50 years of actor training and is the only school that teaches Lee Strasberg’s work in its complete and authentic form. Staff and teachers conducting classes have been selected for their comprehensive knowledge of Lee Strasberg’s work and their ability to apply it to the problems of the actor.
The One Year Conservatory follows the same course of study as the first nine months of the Two Year Conservatory. With 22 hours of classes per week, this program emphasizes the fundamental aspects of The Method while ensuring concentrated but broad-based instruction in voice, movement, and theatre history. Through class work, seminars, exercises, scene work, and discussions, students are encouraged to develop of their art and themselves.
