Esta es la historia de Ruben (interpretado por Riz Ahmed), baterista de una banda de heavy metal conformada por él y su novia Lou (Olivia Cooke).
Sound of Metal. Ruben, batteur de métal, commence à perdre l'audition. Quand un médecin lui dit que cela va s'aggraver, il pense que sa carrière et sa vie sont finies. Lou, la petite amie de cet ancien toxico, le conduit dans un centre de réhabilitation pour sourds, espérant que ça l'aidera à s'adapter sans replonger.
