The site on which the School stands is of great historical interest as both the parkland and woodland are mentioned in the Domesday Book: “Robert of Romney also holds Benenden [Benendine] from the Bishop of Bayeux”. Benenden had become sufficiently permanent by 1086 to have both a name and a church. Benenden became a Charitable Foundation.

  4. Normal entry is in September at 11+, 12+ or 13+, as a result of the ISEB Common Pre-test or through Benenden's own Entrance or Scholarship examinations. In addition, there is also a small 14+ and 16+ competitive entry into Year 10 and the Sixth Form.

  6. Benenden School is an independent day and boarding school for girls, founded in 1923 and situated in 250 acres of beautiful parkland in rural Kent. At present, there are 560 girls in the School.
