Albert II ( German: Albrecht; 28 March 1522 – 8 January 1557) was the margrave of Brandenburg-Kulmbach (Brandenburg-Bayreuth) from 1527 to 1553. He was a member of the Franconian branch of the House of Hohenzollern. Because of his bellicose nature, [according to whom?] Albert was given the cognomen Bellator ("the Warlike") during his lifetime. Posthumously, he became known as Alcibiades .
Marie war das älteste Kind des Markgrafen Kasimir von Brandenburg-Kulmbach (1481–1527) aus dessen Ehe mit Susanne (1502–1543), Tochter des Herzogs Albrecht IV. von Bayern. Nach dem Tod ihres Vaters wurde Marie bei ihrem Onkel Georg in der lutherischen Konfession erzogen.
Marie was the oldest child of the Margrave Casimir of Brandenburg-Kulmbach (1481–1527) from his marriage with Susanna of Bavaria (1502–1543), daughter of Duke Albert IV of Bavaria. After her father's death Marie was raised in the Lutheran faith by her uncle George Frederick.
