Golo Mann. Director: Deutsche Geschichte seit 1815. Golo Mann was born on 27 March 1909 in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. He was a director and writer, known for Deutsche Geschichte seit 1815 (1965), Wallenstein (1978) and Katja Mann: A Life with Thomas Mann (1969).
In this conversation with Elisabeth von Plessen, Katia describes their life in vivid detail and reveals the background to many of his important writings. Katia and Thomas Mann were married for 50 years from 1905 to 1955 when Thomas died. Born in Germany, the Manns were exiled to the United States during WWII, and returned to Europe after the war, settling in Kilchberg near Zurich.
