Catherine Elizabeth Macready “Kate”. Dickens. Perugini. Kate was an English painter of the Victorian era and the daughter of novelist, Charles Dickens. Dickens' named her after his friend, the actor, William Macready. She was baptised Catherine Elizabeth Macready Dickens, and known as Katey from childhood. She was also called, Kitty.

Es zeigt Kate Perugini „als Teil einer kultivierten, gebildeten und künstlerischen Familie“. Kate hatte Millais früher schon Modell für sein Gemälde The Black Brunswicker (1860) gestanden. 1877 wurden Kates Porträts in Ausstellungen der Londoner Royal Academy gezeigt, außerdem stellte sie ihre Werke regelmäßig bei der Society of Watercolour Painters und der Society of Lady Artists aus.
In 1874, he married the youngest daughter of novelist Charles Dickens, who as Kate Perugini pursued her own artistic career, sometimes collaborating with her husband. Perugini's 1878 picture A Girl Reading, perhaps his best-known single work, is in the collection of the Manchester Art Gallery. It was bequeathed by James Thomas Blair in 1917.
