We believe that difference should be respected, promoted and celebrated; as diversity of people, their ideas and accomplishments are a rich source of learning for all.
From its roots as an educational establishment for women in the 19th century, St Anne’s has sought to educate those with the ability and determination to pursue an Oxford education, regardless of background. Today the College prides itself on offering the highest-quality education in a supportive and informal co- educational environment.
Depth of study is a particular strength of the Oxford system, so we encourage students to focus on one subject in most instances. In 1952, the Society receives its royal charter and officially becomes St Anne's College. The Principal, Eleanor Plumer, gives as a gift to the College the right to use her family's coat of arms and motto 'consulto et audacter' (purposefully and boldly). The University's next Open Days will be Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th June 2024, and 20th September. For our open day guests, St Anne’s offers accommodation for prospective students and teachers who would otherwise be unable to attend, and some financial support for travel costs is available.
