Ethical Culture Fieldston School offers a world-class progressive education in Pre-K–12th Grade at two historic campuses in Manhattan and the Bronx. The core of our educational program is the study and practice of ethics, which prepares us — and compels us — to take care of our world, ourselves, and each other. Fieldston.
The second project was the founding of the first free kindergarten in the United States, and in 1880 the Workingman’s School was chartered. In 1895, the School was reorganized, becoming The Ethical Culture School. An upper school, The Fieldston School, was added in 1928.
At Fieldston Lower, students in Pre-K through 5th Grade are immersed in developmentally appropriate academic study through year-long themes.
