Amelia havde fire søstre og fem brødre, der alle fik tilnavnet FitzClarence. Da deres far blev monark, blev FitzClarence hævet til rang af de yngste børn i en markis. Background. Falkland was the son of Charles John Cary, 9th Viscount Falkland, and his wife, Christiana. He succeeded as tenth Viscount Falkland in 1809 at the age of five after his father was killed in a duel. He was educated at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst and on 21 April 1821, purchased an ensigncy in the 22nd Regiment of Foot. [1]

Amelia Cary, Viscountess Falkland (née FitzClarence; 21 March 1807 – 2 July 1858), was a British noblewoman. She was born the fifth illegitimate daughter of William IV of the United Kingdom (then Duke of Clarence) by his long-time mistress Dorothea Jordan .
Amelia FitzClarence (1807-1858); married Lucius Bentinck Cary, 10th Viscount Falkland. The relationship between Mrs Jordan and the Duke of Clarence lasted until 1811 when the Duke was coming under increasing pressure to find a suitable wife.
