About the college. Merton is one of the oldest and most beautiful colleges in Oxford with medieval and 17th-century buildings – including our 13th-century chapel – and glorious, extensive gardens protected by the city wall. Modern facilities include a lecture theatre, five music practice rooms and a multi-faith prayer room.
Merton’s student-run biology society, the Tinbergen Society, holds a variety of events, social activities and talks throughout the year, which are ever popular. Merton provides generous academic grants and funding for field trips, research projects and travel. Merton is the college of the Linacre Chair of Zoology, Professor Peter Holland.
