François-Christophe Kellermann est né à Strasbourg, au 6 rue Brûlée, le 28 mai 1735. Sa famille, d'origine saxonne, était venue dès le XVIIe siècle s'établir en Alsace, où son bisaïeul fut président du conseil des Treize et prévôt des marchands dans la capitale de la province, en 1669.
