Don Honoré Armand de Villars, 2e duc de Villars (4 October 1702, Paris – May 1770, Aix), Duke and Peer of France, Prince of Martigues, Grandee of Spain, Knight of the Golden Fleece, Viscount of Melun, Marquis of la Melle, Count of Rochemiley, was a French nobleman, soldier and politician.
Honoré ARMAND or Duke of VILLARS was born on December 4, 1702. He ended up becoming the governor of Provence just like his father before him. They were loyal soldiers in the service of King LOUIS XIV. But, the Duke of VILLARS also bore an inconsiderate love for literature, became a close friend of VOLTAIRE and sat at the Académie Française.

Le duc de Villars, maréchal de France. Ce tableau est regardé comme la copie, une dizaine d’années plus tard, d’un premier portrait réalisé en 1704. Son commanditaire, né en 1653, est Claude-Louis-Hector de Villars, fils d’un lieutenant général des armées du roi devenu ambassadeur.
