Eberhard Friedrichs Sohn Wilhelm Reinhard von Neipperg (1684–1774) war Erzieher und Vertrauter des späteren Kaisers Franz I. und wurde am 5. Februar 1726 von Kaiser Karl VI. in den Reichsgrafenstand erhoben. Mit Wilhelm Reinhard und aufgrund dessen österreichischen Dienstes wurde die Familie vermutlich 1717 wieder katholisch.
