Lydie Polfer. In her second spell as Luxembourg City mayor, just as in her first from 1981 to 1999, Lydie Polfer has always been accessible to the people who live and work in the capital. But with one year until the local elections in 2023, Polfer and her council face some major challenges, including mobility and security.
(CS) The Luxembourg City council on Monday evening confirmed DP politician Lydie Polfer as the capital's new mayor, replacing now-Premier Xavier Bettel. The post will be familiar territory for Polfer, who served as Luxembourg City mayor from 1982 to 1999, succeeding her father, Camille Polfer, who had served as mayor for two years before quitting the post for health reasons.
