Lawrence Turman started out in the industry representing actors at agency Kurt Frings. He soon moved into production, earning early producer credits for The Young Doctors (1961), I Could Go on Singing (1963) and The Best Man (1964), before making probably his greatest success, The Graduate (1967), which earned him a Best Picture Oscar nomination.
