He attended the University of Leipzig and when he graduated with a bachelor of arts degree, he joined the Dominican order of Monks in 1489. He was named an inquisitor of heresy in Poland and in 1517 he was named a commissioner of indulgences for Archbishop Albrecht von Brandenburg.
