The countess also left her mark a few hundred yards away with almshouses she established in her will, ‘for the relief and maintenance of six poor women of the said parish to reside’. 2

John Stanley (4 November 1641 – 10 September 1719) married a commoner, Alice Biddle. Charles's two sons, William, the 9th Earl (c. 1655–1702), and James, the 10th (1664–1736), both died without sons, and consequently, when James died in February 1736, his titles and estates passed to Sir Edward Stanley (1689–1776), a descendant of the 1st Earl.

Early life. Caroline Emma Neville was born on 28 December 1963 to Robin Neville, a member of the House of Neville, and Robin Helen Brockhoff. Her paternal grandfather was Henry Seymour Neville, 9th Baron Braybrooke. In 1990 her father succeeded his father as the 10th Baron Braybrooke, at which time she was styled as The Honourable Caroline Neville.
