Marjorie Bruce. Marjorie Bruce or Marjorie de Brus (c. 1296 – 1316 or 1317) was the eldest daughter of Robert the Bruce, King of Scots, and the only child born of his first marriage with Isabella of Mar. She married Walter Stewart 6th High Steward of Scotland in 1315, in Dundonald, Ayrshire, Scotland.

John Balliol was picked as king, only for Edward to humiliate and dethrone him a short time later. Marjorie’s father, Robert the Bruce, was one of the chief claimants of the Scots crown.
According to legend, Marjorie's parents had been very much in love, and Robert the Bruce did not remarry until 1302 (six years after his first wife's death), to a courtier named Elizabeth de Burgh. On 27 March 1306, her father was crowned King of Scots at Scone, Perthshire, and Marjorie, then 10 years old, became a Princess of Scotland.

Robert – the son of Walter Stewart and Robert the Bruce’s daughter Marjorie Bruce – was the first monarch of the Stewart dynasty. Now a royal castle, Rothesay was given a makeover in the later 1400s.
