KESTEN, HERMANN (1900–1996), German novelist. In 1927 Kesten became literary adviser to the Berlin publishing house of Kiepenheuer. He had to leave Germany in 1933 and was active in European refugee circles, but fled to the U.S.A. after the outbreak of World War II.
Hermann Kesten estudió Filosfía y Literatura en Francfort y trabajó en la editorial Keipenheuer de Berlín hasta que en 1933, ante el apogeo del nazismo, se trasladó a Amsterdam, donde dirigió el departamento de literatura alemana de la editorial Allert de Lange, y posteriormente se estableció en Nueva York.
