He was the youngest of nine children born to Sir John Sedley (died August 1639) the 2 nd Baronet of Aylesbury and his wife Elizabeth (died after 1651) the daughter of Sir Henry Savile .

He was principally remembered for his wit and profligacy. Life. He was the son of Sir John Sedley, 2nd Baronet, of Aylesford in Kent, and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Henry Savile.

  3. Despite such behaviour Sedley also served time as a prominent Member of Parliament and established himself as a witty and forceful speaker between the 1660s and the end of the 17 th century. He held the seat of New Romney in Kent until his death. Sir Charles Sedley died at Hampstead on the 20 th August 1701 at the age of 62.
