Christ Church Cathedral is the cathedral of the diocese of Oxford, which includes the City of Oxford and the surrounding countryside as far north as Banbury. It is also, uniquely, the chapel of Christ Church, the largest college of the University of Oxford .
Its alumni include politicians, lawyers, bishops, poets, and academics. At least thirteen British prime ministers have been educated at Christ Church, including Sir Robert Peel (Prime Minister 1834–1835 & 1841–1846), Anthony Eden (1955–1957) and William Ewart Gladstone (1892–94, 1886, 1880–85, & 1868–74).
