Generation Kill is an American seven-part television miniseries produced for HBO that aired from July 13 to August 24, 2008. It is based on Evan Wright 's 2004 book Generation Kill , about his experience as an embedded reporter with the US Marine Corps ' 1st Reconnaissance Battalion during the 2003 invasion of Iraq , and was adapted for television by David Simon , Ed Burns , and Wright. Evan Wright is the author of Hella Nation and the award-winning Generation Kill, the basis of the HBO® miniseries for which Wright served as co-writer. Wright earned his degree in medieval and Renaissance studies from Vassar College, an education he soon put to work at Hustler magazine, where he served as “Entertainment Editor.”.
