24 de ene. de 2023 · George William Frederick, future George III, was born on 4 June 1738 at Norfolk House in London. His father was Frederick, Prince of Wales, and his mother was Augusta of Saxe-Gotha (1719-1772). When Frederick died in 1751, George became the Prince of Wales. King George II died of a heart attack on 25 October 1760 in Kensington Palace.
The House of Hanover was a British royal dynasty with German origins. All the Hanoverian monarchs were descended from George Louis, the elector of Hanover (a region of Germany ). The six Hanoverian monarchs ruled Great Britain between 1714 and 1901.
1714 - 1815. There were a lot of better qualified people available to be king of England - unfortunately most of them were Catholic. George I was a German who did not speak a word of English, but was Protestant. So started the rule of the House of Hanover, under whom Britain achieved wealth and peace over the next century.

He was the eldest child of George I and Sophia Dorothea of Celle (l. 1666-1726). His parents' marriage had been one of political convenience, and there was little love between the two.
