Edwin Dwight Babbitt was born in Hampden, N.Y. 1 February 1828. He graduated from Knox College, Galesburg, Ill. with an M.D. degree. He arrived in Dayton, Ohio in the late 1850's and established the Miami Commercial College in 1860.
