By the mid-1960s, Bosley was so busy with guest appearances on television that he was forced to cut back his stage work, making his last significant Broadway part for almost 30 years in the little-seen "The Education of H*Y*M*A*N*K*A*P*L*A*N*" (1968). Bosley soon became a mainstay for sympathetic working class types and world-weary professionals.
