Simon Fraser of Lovat (19 October 1726 – 8 February 1782) was a son of a notorious Jacobite clan chief, but he went on to serve with distinction in the British army. He also raised forces which served in the Seven Years' War against the French in Quebec, as well as the American War of Independence.
Simon Fraser, 11th Lord Lovat (c. 1667 – 9 April 1747, London), nicknamed the Fox (Scottish Gaelic: an t-Sionnach), was a Scottish Jacobite and Chief (Scottish Gaelic: Mac Shimidh Mòr) of Clan Fraser of Lovat, known for his feuding and changes of allegiance.
Brigadier Simon Christopher Joseph Fraser, 15th Lord Lovat, DSO, MC, TD, JP, DL (9 July 1911 – 16 March 1995) was a prominent British Commando during the Second World War and the 24th Chief of the Clan Fraser of Lovat.
The clan chief, Simon Fraser, 11th Lord Lovat was executed in 1747 for supporting the Jacobite cause and Castle Dounie was subsequently destroyed. However his son, also called Simon, recovered the property in 1771. The Fraser of Lovat titles were all restored by 1857 and the castle was re-built as Beaufort Castle in 1882.
