Mayer wanted only Judy. He made sure he got her by coercing her father with financial temptations and then proceeded to treat the child as a glorified apprentice.
Louis Burt Mayer (/ˈmeɪ.ər/; born Lazar Meir) was a Canadian-American[1] film producer and co-founder of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studios (MGM) in 1924. Under Mayer's management, MGM became the film industry's most prestigious movie studio, accumulating the largest concentration of leading writers, directors, and stars in Hollywood. Mayer died on October 29, 1957 aged 73.
