Bardzo przewrotny i wymowny tytuł filmu: The Straight Story to w tłumaczeniu dosłownym "prosta historia" ale jak się dowiadujemy już na początku filmu, główna postać i jej rodzina nosi nazwisko "Straight", co można również przetłumaczyć (oczywiście tylko w kontekście filmu) jako "opowieść Straighta".
