Pip Torrens’ first job was as an understudy and he describes it as his best break even after the wide range of movies that he has been cast in. In 1983 he was an understudy in Judy Mitchell’s play about Guy Burgess, a Soviet spy. The lead role in the play was assigned to Daniel Day-Lewis who is now an Oscar-winning actor.
