Count Henry III of Nassau-Dillenburg-Dietz (12 January 1483, Siegen – 14 September 1538, Breda), Lord (from 1530 Baron) of Breda, Lord of the Lek, of Dietz, etc. was a count of the House of Nassau. He was the son of Count John V of Nassau-Dillenburg and Elisabeth of Hesse-Marburg.
The subject of this portrait is Hendrik III, Count of Nassau-Breda (1483–1538). An esteemed statesman and captain general, Hendrik was entrusted with the education of the Emperor Maximilian ’s grandson, the future Emperor Charles V, who appointed him governor of Holland , Zeeland, and Friesland in 1515.

He had no legitimate children and appointed his nephew Henry III of Nassau-Breda as his successor. Engelbert had two illegitimate children: Engelbrecht and Barbara. Engelbert II of Nassau in art. Hendrik III was een zoon van Jan V van Nassau-Dillenburg, stadhouder van Gelre, en Elisabeth van Hessen-Marburg. Hij was de broer van Willem de Rijke, graaf van Nassau-Dillenburg en dus een oom van Willem van Oranje. In 1504 erfde hij de bezittingen van zijn kinderloos overleden oom, Engelbrecht II van Nassau .
