The curious and slightly strange subgenre of folk horror emerged within British cinema around the time Hammer’s fortunes began to change. Folk horror owes much of its tone and style to the influential Hammer films from the late 1950’s and early 1960’s.
Lust of the Vampire (1957) “Lust of the Vampire” is a 1957 British horror film that can be associated with the folk horror subgenre. While the term “folk horror” is more commonly associated with cinema and narrative works from the 1960s and 1970s, some of the characteristics of this genre emerge in “I Vampiri.”.
