Robert Taylor. Actor: Focus. Robert Taylor is one of Australia's busiest actors with an illustrious career spanning over international film and television. Perhaps best known for his portrayal of the title role of Walt Longmire in Netflix's record breaking drama series Longmire, which recently released its sixth and final season.
Robert Taylor was born in Filley, Nebraska, on August 5, 1911, with the birth name of Spangler Arlington Brugh. His father, Spangler Andrew Brugh, was a grain farmer who, late in life, studied medicine and became a doctor, in order to treat and, eventually successfully cure his wife of a rare illness which she had had since childhood.
Robert Taylor is the longest running studio contract star in film history, a record that can never be broken. He was the top-billed star in each of his major films at MGM from 1933-1958. He, along with Spencer Tracy and Clark Gable were the three top MGM stars for decades.
