An older man, a cop Micky O'Keefe (as self) steps in to help. Mother Alice Eklund ( Melissa Leo) arrives and tells O'Keefe to get out, it is Dicky's job, the two argue. Dicky is smoking up with friends, he is two hours late before he runs off to the gym. Micky works the speed bag on his own as Dicky arrives panting.
Con un poco más de ambición "The Fighter" sería mucho más que uno de los trabajos más correctos del pasado 2010. Así, se queda en un estimable pero convencional drama que abarca no sólo el tema del boxeo sino además (de forma más superficial) el de las drogas, o el de la importancia de la familia, la superación de las metas y la búsqueda de los sueños.
