  2. The British Institute’s Library and Cultural Centre in Palazzo Lanfredini is a delightful retreat from the hustle of life in Florence. Many international residents and visitors see it as a home from home, a place to stop by for a moment, read a book or browse the periodicals … or simply catch up on email (the wi-fi is great!)

  4. Simon comes to the British Institute after a 30 year career with the British Council, most recently as Country Director in Poland. Simon studied History and English at Cambridge before training as a teacher at the University of London. Soon after graduating, he moved to Florence and taught at the British Institute for two years.

  5. Our 2024 cycle of monthly courses can be followed in person, with lectures and visits conducted in Florence, or online via Zoom. "Blended" lectures (live and via zoom silmultaneously) are held and broadcast from the British Institute library on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons, while visits are conducted on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
