Synopsis. Nicolas Cage plays EMS paramedic Frank Pierce. It is the early 1990's and New York has not yet undergone its renaissance of recent years. Surrounded by the injured and the dying, Frank is dwelling in an urban night-world, crumbling under the accumulated weight of too many years of saving and losing lives.
Bringing out the dead is an unrelentingly depressing watch. For many that's enough to just make this movie a non-starter. Almost every element of this movie brings the lead and those around him down like an ever steeper helter-skelter. There are some points that seem a stretch, making the movie slightly less credulous.
