  7. Maria Walpole (1739-1807) était la nièce de Sir Horace Walpole, écrivain et amateur d’art proche de Reynolds, qui lui commanda ce portrait de sa nièce, exécuté en 1761. Elle avait épousé en 1759 le comte James Waldegrave (1715-1763) ; leur fille était née le 24 mars 1760, elle a donc entre un et deux ans sur ce portrait.
