Personally, I think that both Catherine, born in around 1524, and Henry were Carey’s children. We don’t know when Mary slept with the king and to me it makes more sense that she slept with him while his mistress Elizabeth or Bessie Blount was pregnant in 1519, that would make sense with the king supporting Mary’s match with Carey, who was a member of his privy chamber.
Henry Carey was an English poet, dramatist, and composer. He is best remembered today for his satirical ballad opera "The Dragon of Wantley", and for writing the words to the popular patriotic anthem "God Save the King." Though the melody is attributed to various composers, Carey's claim to the lyrics has become widely accepted.
His son later claimed that Henry Carey was the author of “God Save the King,” which became the British national anthem, but the claim was never proved. Until a 1930 edition of his poetry was published, Carey was reputed to be the illegitimate son of George Savile, 1st marquess of Halifax; it is now suggested that he was Savile’s illegitimate grandson.
Henry Carey, 1st Baron Hunsdon KG PC, was an English nobleman, courtier, and the patron of the Lord Chamberlain’s Men, William Shakespeare’s playing company. Born to William Carey and Mary Boleyn, he was a cousin of Elizabeth I. Educated in a Cistercian monastery and tutored by Nicholas Bourbon, he became a Member of Parliament for Buckingham and was knighted and created Baron by Elizabeth I.

Henry Carey (c. 26 August 1687 – 5 October 1743) was an English poet, dramatist and songwriter. He is remembered as an anti-Walpolean satirist and also as a patriot. Several of his melodies continue to be sung today, and he was widely praised in the generation after his death.
