Bagrat IV too had to deal with the Byzantine Empire and also had the added problem of the Seljuks under Alp Arslan who invaded the borders. Bagrat married Helena Argyre in 1032, but she had died within the year. He remarried to Borena of Alania with whom he had a son and a daughter.
