Müller beginnt mit der journalistischen Arbeit als Literaturkritiker bei der Zeitschrift "Sonntag", ab 1953 bei der Zeitschrift "Neue deutsche Literatur". 1954. Heirat mit der Schriftstellerin Ingeborg Schwenkner. Sie begeht 1966 Selbstmord. 1954/55. Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter des Deutschen Schriftsteller-Verbandes (DSV).
