1 de ene. de 2022 · Onitsha has grown to merge with its surrounding settlements to form a sprawling urban corridor in what is today known as the ONA (Onitsha-Nnewi-Awka) Industrial Axis (UN Habitat, 2009: 12). According to Hodder and Ukwu ( 1969 : 234), the original settlement was at Ndende on a low river terrace, standing 30 feet above the river flood or 100–150 feet above the sea level.
Onitsha je město na jihu Nigérie na východním břehu řeky Niger ve státě Anambra. Město je centrem obchodu a průmyslu jihovýchodu Nigérie. Samotné město mělo podle sčítání lidu v roce 1991 necelých 260 tis. obyvatel. Podobné výsledky ukázalo i sčítání lidu v roce 2006, toto však nebylo provedeno řádně.
