Vater Plochl stammte aus St. Lorenzen in den Windischen Büheln nahe Cilli (heute Celje in Slowenien) und war nach Aussee gezogen, wo er 1803 Bürger und 1808 k. k. Postmeister wurde. 1802 hatte er die Müllermeisterstochter Anna Maria Pilz geheiratet, mit der er 13 Kinder hatte.
