8 de jul. de 1996 · Reissue of the 1966 release cat-# 20098. Recorded live at The Lighthouse, Hermosa Beach, California on January 14-16, 1966. Remixed from the original three-track tapes. Tracks 5 and 6 are bonus tracks and were previously unreleased.
Fresh and spirited, the Jazz Crusaders were one of the best exponents of the fast moving Los Angeles soul jazz scene of the early 60s. Firmly rooted in tradition, yet they radiated a stimulatingly youthful exuberance evident in these extrovert live recordings at the famous Lighthouse in August 1962, and in three studio recordings from a few weeks later.

Historia Inicios. El grupo "The Jazz Crusaders" fue formado por el trombonista Wayne Henderson, el saxofonista Wilton Felder, el teclista Joe Sample y el baterista Stix Hooper, a los que se unieron el guitarrista Roy Gaines y el contrabajista Jimmy Bond, en 1961, [1] aunque ya con anterioridad habían trabajado juntos, llegando a grabar un par de singles, bajo el nombre de "The Nite Hawks".
