Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche grundlagde Nietzsche-arkivet i Weimar 1896 og udgav broderens samlede værker og korrespondance, men manipulerede samtidig med teksterne. I modsætning til Friedrich Nietzsche havde hun stærkt antisemitiske holdninger, og hun må bære en del af ansvaret for, at hans filosofi ofte uretfærdigt er blevet sat i forbindelse med den nationalsocialistiske ideologi.

Not only did Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche's biographies serve these discussions, but also a multitude of journals and newspaper articles which came from the archive and the surrounding areas. Förster-Nietzsche had already collected documents from her admired brother since her youth and then began to buy up all of his mail correspondences for a substantial sum.
25 de sept. de 2003 · She changed her name to Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche and paid her mother off in return for her relinquishing all claims to Friedrich’s royalties. The Nietzsche-Archiv was born in her mother’s house in Naumburg, where, to Franziska’s distress, Elisabeth held soirées on the ground floor as Friedrich babbled upstairs.
