Walter Adolf Georg Gropius (* 18. Mai 1883 in Berlin; † 5. Juli 1969 in Boston, Massachusetts) war ein deutscher (seit 1944 US-amerikanischer) Architekt und Gründer des Bauhauses. Neben Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Frank Lloyd Wright und Le Corbusier gilt er als ein Pionier der internationalen modernistischen Architektur .
