Marco Vespucci. Simonetta Vespucci, nata Cattaneo ( Genova o Portovenere, 28 gennaio (?) 1453 – Firenze, 26 aprile 1476 ), fu una gentildonna italiana, tra le più note del Rinascimento, ritenuta la musa ispiratrice di Sandro Botticelli [1] . Venne amata da Giuliano de' Medici, il fratello minore di Lorenzo il Magnifico.
We know that Simonetta Cattaneo, was born in 1453, in one of the most ancient noble families of Genoa and was married to the banker Marco Vespucci, a relative of the famous Amerigo, who gave the name to America. We know that at sixteen she had already moved to Florence and that she died at twenty-three, probably of plague.

She was a dazzling passage of beauty through this world and has given the impression of having been in it only to fulfill a task: to inspire. After her departure, Botticelli fell into a deep depression, and for the remaining 13 years of his life, he decided even more strongly to capture that gentle face and that kind heart in many of his creations.
