The Shangri-las, fue un grupo musical femenino muy influyente y conocido en la década de 1960 en Estados Unidos (su país de origen). Compuesto por dos parejas de hermanas, Betty y Mary Weiss y las hermanas gemelas Marge y Mary Anne Ganser, mezclaban letras sinceras y una música entre el pop sesentero y el rock.
En el Nueva York de los años 60 el estilo de las hermanas Weiss y las gemelas Ganser las inmortalizaría para la historia del pop como The Shangri-Las. Siendo todavía adolescentes, el astuto productor George “Shadow” Morton las fichó y llevó al estrellato con “Remember (Walkin' In The Sand)” (1964), que fue solo el primero de sus éxitos.

Una de las gemelas Ganser murió en 1970, parece ser que por una sobredosis de barbitúricos. La otra gemela falleció de cáncer en 1996.
