Isabella Cecil, Marchioness of Exeter (6 March 1803 – 6 March 1879), formerly Isabella Poyntz, was the wife of Brownlow Cecil, 2nd Marquess of Exeter, and the mother of the 3rd Marquess. Biography. She was the daughter of William Stephen Poyntz, a Liberal MP, and his wife, the former Hon. Elizabeth Mary Browne.
Brownlow Cecil, 2nd Marquess of Exeter KG PC , styled Lord Burghley until 1804, was a British peer, courtier, and Tory politician. He held office under the Earl of Derby as Lord Chamberlain of the Household in 1852 and as Lord Steward of the Household between 1858 and 1859.
Brownlow, 2nd Marquess of Exeter Brownlow inherited the title at the tender age of 9, attaining his majority in 1816. In 1824 he married Isabella Poyntz, a wealthy and beautiful lady who bore him eleven children, seven of which survived.

Parts of the house and estate are open to the public, while the house remains occupied by a member of the Cecil family , who also serves as director of the trust .
