Henry Clay, Sr. (April 12, 1777 – June 29, 1852) was an American politician from Kentucky. He served in the House of Representatives (as Speaker ), in the Senate, and was Secretary of State. He ran for President several times but never won. He wanted the United States to fight the British during the War of 1812.
Tres veces candidato presidencial, en la elección de 1844 por el partido Whig, fue derrotado por Polk que enarboló la bandera de la anexión de Texas, a la que se oponía Clay. Desatada la guerra por Polk, Clay trató de impedir que su propio hijo, Henry Clay, Jr., marchara a México, en donde murió en la batalla de La Angostura.

Pioneer Tunnel #1, popular referred to as the ‘Henry Clay’, is a Vulcan-type steam locomotive with a wheel arrangement of 0-4-0T. It was built by the Henry Clay Locomotive Works in 1927 to be used on the Pioneer Tunnel. But after operating for a few years, the Pioneer Tunnel suspended operations in 1931 due to the Great Depression.
