On this date in 1326, Edmund FitzAlan, Earl of Arundel was beheaded at Hereford for his support of King Edward II, during the rebellion of Queen Isabella and her lover Roger Mortimer. Arundel’s relationship with doomed king had not always been so fatally chummy.
Richard FitzAlan, 10th Earl of Arundel (c. 1307 – January 24, 1376) was an English nobleman and military leader. Fitzalan was the eldest son of Edmund FitzAlan, 9th Earl of Arundel, and Alice Warenne. His maternal grandparents were William de Warenne and Joan de Vere. William was the only son of John de Warenne, 7th Earl of Surrey.

Zu Namensträgern siehe auch Fitzalan. Das Haus FitzAlan war eine englische Adelsfamilie bretonischer Herkunft. Es stammt ab von Alain, der Ende des 11. Jahrhunderts im Dienst des Bischofs von Dol auftritt. Sein Enkel Alan fitz Flaad ging nach England, wo er vom König mit Grundbesitz in Shropshire ausgestattet wurde.
