  1. 18 de oct. de 2023 · Peniston Lamb was the Member of Parliament for Newport from 1793 to 1796 and the Member for Hertfordshire from 1802 until his death from tuberculosis in January 1805. The acquisition of this painting is an important addition to the number of early works by Lawrence already in the collection, above all his full-length portrait of Queen Charlotte.

  4. In 1768 Lamb was returned by George Selwyn for Ludgershall at the recommendation of the Duke of Grafton. In Parliament he supported the Grafton and North Administrations, and when he voted with Opposition on the naval captains’ petition, 9 Feb. 1773, he was marked in the King’s list as a friend.
